For those wanting to be close to Marche's beaches and its pretty inland scenery, fascinating medieval hill-top towns and Apennine mountains, this period villa is perfectly placed.
Villa Roberta is just one kilometre outside the beautiful medieval town of Offida and is within easy walking distance of its charming old town, home to various restuarants and bars.
Offida is a famous centre of lace making and the ladies of the town can still be seen working assiduously with bobbins in hand, often at great speed, sat in shop doorways and even on their doorsteps throughout the historic centre in the summer months, creating beautiful embroideries.
The seaside resort of Grottamare is close by, just ten minutes by car and it has everything a good seaside resort should have, with a mix of beach bars and restaurants making it a popular destination with Italian tourists.
A very short walk away from the villa is a highly rated country restaurant and a small scale health and beauty centre is also close by.
All the bedrooms at Villa Roberta are upstairs - there are two double bedrooms, a twin and a spacious single bedroom. A cot is is also available.
There is a bathroom with shower upstairs and a second downstairs loo.
The simple but elegant kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge and freezer and washing machine. There is also an oven and four gas hobs. A large pantry provides ample storage space.
The garden is planted with mature olives and fruit trees and the lawns and flowerbeds and outdoor seating with lovely views down to the coast and up to the Sibillini mountains make relaxing outdoors a real pleasure.
The garden is fenced making it safe for children and guests are welcome to pick the fruit, which includes grapes, apricots, apples and peaches.
A wonderful communal wine cellar run by the local council to encourage wine lovers to come and taste local wines is found in the old town of Offida. The owners of Villa Roberta happily accompany the conneiseur and beginner alike, if requested.
The town's market day is Thursday. The town retains its ancient charm, not least thanks to some highly unique architecture around the unusal triangular central piazza and a strategically positioned church rich in ancient mosaics and made famous after the retreating German army failed conspicuously to blow it up, ensuring pride of place in local folklore.
