Casa Le Palme
Price: from £500
Located near Servigliano, Marche, Italy
Large three bedroom villa, sleeping up to 6 guests, with large garden and beautiful views
Casa Le Palme is immersed in the gentle Piceno hills found just to the east of Marche's Monti Sibillini National Park and to the west of the Adriatic Coast.
The villa is set at a height of about 220m and has two rivers which flow either side of it at a distance of 2km. Wonderful walks start from your doorstep and the local town of Servigliano is only 1km away down a very quiet country lane gifting lovely views over the River Tenna and surrounding valley.
For lovers of two wheels mountain bikes are available and provide the perfect way to explore the surrounding greenery, or visit the local towns of Belmonte, Monte Leone and Servigliano.
The last of these little towns was a POW camp for thousands of British soldiers, still fondly remembered by older generation of the local population today. And Servigliano itself is a unique architectural gem, built in a symmetrical neo-classical style with a large central piazza surrounded by authentic little mews where many of the townsfolk still live.
The garden at Casa Le Palme is large and well-kept, boasting secular oaks, mature fruit trees and palms, and large lawns. Leading from the garden are pretty shaded walks down to the rivers Tenna and Ete, and also to the town of Servigliano, with its mix of bars and restaurants.
The property has two verandas, making outdoor dining ideal and in the large living room there is a master billiard table to keep guests entertained.
A kitchen and separate dining room, two very spacious double rooms, a single room and two bathrooms complete the property on two floors.
Just a quarter of an hour inland from Casa Le Palme is the town of Amandola, gateway to the majestic Monti Sibillini National Park, home to some of Italy's highest and most beautiful peaks outside the Alps.
Also within easy reach is the Conero Riviera with its secluded coved beaches, or if you prefer shopping head to the provincial capital of Fermo and the surrounding towns, where some of Italy's finest shoes and leather goods can all be found at a fraction of the prices found elsewhere, thanks to the predominance of factory outlets which sell direct to the public.
