This pretty stone-built farmhouse is in a very panoramic position. Set at a height of 700m it boasts stunning views of Marche and offers great walking right from your doorstep.

Set in open countryside with woodland walks behind the property but also within easy driving distance of the small town of Apecchio, Casa Giacomo is well positioned to take advantage of the beauty of the green wooded hills and majestic mountains. The farmhouse iis likely to have been built by Benedictine monks from the abbey at Scalocchio close by and was certainly built to last. Constructed from local sandstone it has spacious rooms inside with two grand fireplaces and thick stone walls, which transport guests back in time.

A 150 acre organic farm close to the property is run by the owners and provides various organic produce to guests. Immediately surrounding the property is a large garden furnished with garden chairs, tables and benches, and complete with a swimming pool with great vistas over the local countryside.

The local town of Apecchio three miles away is home to a fossil museum and the town centre is home to the impressive Palazzo Ubaldini and other historical buildings. The town is also known for its mineral springs and is popular with tourists during summer months.

Within walking distance of Casa Giacomo is Il Guiso restaurant, less than a mile away. Guests of Casa Giacomo can expect a very warm welcome!

The famous Renaissance town of Urbino is within half an hour's drive and offers fine museums and architecture. This historic university town and provincial capital also boasts the Palazzo Ducale which houses one of Marche's most coveted art collections. The town itself is a mecca for artists of all types and was home to Italian master Raphael.

The local area is perfect for trekkers and mountain bikers and the clear cool waters of the Biscubio River offer the fisherman some tempting prospects.

With the help of his trained dogs and sometimes a tame wild boar, the owner of Casa Giacomo enjoys offering guided excursions in search of prized white truffles, as well as mushrooms and wild berries.

Private Italian lessons can be arranged and a free cookery class is on offer for guests with culinary aspirations.

For intrepid explorers expert guides can be enlisted to help them through the underground caves of nearby Monte Nerone, complete with underground lakes. Winter ski-ing is also popular, weather permitting.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS

Apartment Scalocchio is accessed from an external staircase which leads to a covered outside porch. Inside is a spacious living/dining room with kitchen and fireplace. One double bedroom is provided with its own en suite and a second bathroom serves the other two bedrooms. The apartment sleeps 6 but two extra beds are available and the apartment has satellite TV.

Apartment Serriola is on the ground floor and is accessed via a covered porch which adjoins the garden. Inside is a large living/dining room and kitchen with fireplace, one double bedroom with en suite and two more bedrooms which share a bathroom. The apartment sleeps 6 but two extra beds are available and a satellite TV is provided.

Apartment Tartufo has an independent entrance from the garden into a small kitchen/living room. There is one large bedroom with a kingsize bed and a single bed. A second single bed can be added here or in the living area. The apartment has one bathroom and satellite TV is provided. Outside there is plenty of space to eat with outdoor furniture provided. Sleeps 2/4.
