Tucked away amongst the greenery of the Tenna Valley between the pretty hill-top village of Monte San Martino and the larger town of Amandola, is this villa with a real once-upon-a-time feel.

Owned by a former Italian ambassador to the UK the adjoining property once hosted Prince Charles for a week while he took pleasure painting the remarkable local scenery. Set on the border of of the two provinces of Ascoli Piceno and Macerata, Villa Frattina is an ideal base from which to explore the region's many secrets.

The property is spacious and suitable for a group of up to 12 guests, with an interesting mix of old antique furniture .

Close to the borders of Umbria and Tuscany, Villa Frattina is an ideal place from which to explore Marche and central Italy, with Perugia, Bologna, Florence, Assisi, Siena and Rome all day-trip possibilities.

Yet there is also much to see and do closer to home. Just 20 miles away is the wonderful university town of Macerata, which each summer is home to the world famous Open-Air Opera Festival. In northern Marche is Urbino, the birthplace of Raphael and the home of the Palazzo Ducale, an architectural masterpiece which houses Marche's most important museum, the Galleria nazionale delle Marche.

And just ten minutes away in the car are Amandola and Sarnano, which during the summer months are bustling with a mix of holiday makers and locals.

Further to the north is the independent state of San Marino while the beautiful beaches of the Adriatic Coast are within forty minute's drive of the villa.
