Casa Francesca is a beautiful old country farmhouse tucked away on the side of a very beautiful rolling valley.

Near the town of Cagli sin the heart of Marche's Montefeltro region (famous for its black and white truffles) this is also an area popular with walkers. Wildlife is plentiful including roe deer, badgers, porcupines and fox, hawks, buzzards and eagles.

Parts of the farmhouse date as far back as the sixteenth century, with other additions made in later centuries. All the apartments have been sensitively restored with an eclectic mix of modern and original features, including original period furniture, beams and terracotta coupled with modern kitchen and beds painted in modern earthy tones.

A short drive away is Cagli, a small town with its own historic 500 seat theatre with regular plays and concerts. On the second Sunday of August the town stages the spectacular Palio dell'Oca, a Renaissance pageant in which hundreds of citizens in full costume parade the streets.

Set in classic rural Italy, close to the Apennines yet with easy striking distance of the Adriatic Riviera and such famous resorts as Rimini and Fano as well as the mountains and ski runs of Monte Nerone, Casa Francesca is very well located.

Within half an hour's drive are two extraordinary cities of art, Urbino and Gubbio and further afield are the provincial capitals Macerata and Ascoli Piceno, the first offering outdoor opera and the second a unique and stunning marble piazza.

Big cities such as Bologna, famous for its book and underwear fairs, Florence, Perugia and Rome are all possible day trip destinations.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS

- Apartment Tramonto (sleeps 4) is on two floors. Private entry is from the ground floor into a spacious fully equipped kitchen, which leads through to a large living room with sofa bed and period pieces. There is also a downstairs bathroom with loo and basin. The bedrooms are upstairs. Off the corridor is the first double bedroom with en suite bath and shower. The second double room also has a single bed and is served by a second bathroom. The apartment also has a terrace offering superb views of the countryside.
- Apartment Alba (sleeps 2) is a two room apartment on two floors. Entry is from an exclusive outdoor area into a kitchen/dining room from where a staircase leads to the upstairs double bedroom and bathroom. There is also a double sofa bed downstairs.
